Some jobs come through recommendation; some jobs come because they’ve seen something they like; some jobs come from old clients; very occasionally a job comes by finagling. The ‘head case’ was initially designed for the Floyd but they didn’t like it.
In the end it was done for two clients – one a rock band from Toronto called Thornley who used it
for their album called Tiny Pictures and one a private client who had an unhealthy respect for Pink Floyd. Through a mixture of desperation and strong belief, I always thought it as a subject worth doing. We collected 200 suitcases and arranged them in the shape of a head and installed them in a very large warehouse in Chatham where they built the old
galleons. The end result was like a left-luggage nightmare and slightly more menacing than I intended.
